World Snow Kite Master
Was onley Bjørn, Kari and me who decided to go to the snow kite master this year from Norway. Our flight done was smooth, but our car trip from Bergamo was not that smooth sean I delete our map on Bjørns laptop, ha ha, took us some ours but all good at the end. At the SKM we had two days with nice whether an light wind, then to day with bad whether and now competition. So far it was only the woman who have the finish results. The men ski class finish on Friday and us snowboarder on Saturday. Lucky we got all the results. We are a big family from Ozone here, it is nice to see them all again. Kari won the ski class for woman, gratulation:) She was for sure the best girl. In the men ski class Johan Civel was riding really good but ended on the 3 place. Nice and smooth style on his ski for sure. But it was Bjørn from Norway who won the finale, gratulation.
Chasta and me ended in the final. The wind was light but it was just enough to run the heat. It was not easy, Chasta have super style and he jumping all the time. But at the end I just nailed him. So we all in the Ozone crew was happy after a nice week with 2 first place one second and 1 third place. Not been so much kiting for me this season so it is good to do some competition there I can push my level back up to where it shooed be.I can also say thanks to Ozone who mede the new C4 to a super kite. I am very happy with it. I think lots of you out there now this already. This kite have the power and the depower, turning smooth and fast. I also love that it is so easy to feel where the kite is every second. I am very surprised over the biggest kites, when you ride the 15 you think it is a 11 m2. This kite make me to want kite even more:)
Now I have to go out riding:) See you all soon
World Championship
Reschen, Iscghl 26. 1 - 1.2.10 Since Helly-skiing in Canada is just two weeks away Bjørn and I decided to go to Ischgl. We found some nice faces to ride, and with great weather and powder we had some amazing days in Switzerland. Then we headed towards Reschen to attend the first official world championship for snowkiting.
Unfortunately I injured my knee in the SKM competition, and it had still not healed enough so I had to pass on the competition in Reschen. Now I just hope it will heal in time for the Helly-skiing in Canada and the kite-competitions in the states. To give you a quick update on the norwegian team: Remi won men snowboard, Bjørn won men ski and Kari won the women ski and the race. All in all it was a good world championship for the team.
Hopefully next year I´ll join:)
Trip to Portugal
Just come back home from a sweet week in Portugal. Been kiting and surfing all day long. Went to amazing place cold Esposende, this is a big laguna/river. When the see it´s low all the sandbanks coming up and behind them you get thousand of liters of glassy water. In the evening the wind normally dropping and and it get´s super steady, wish I had some more days here to practice. Had my day of year with the sport 11 in 20 nots, to bad I did not have any photographer with me.
This is for sure one of my top 3 kite-spots I ever been so for sure it worth to check it out. I stayed with the Lapoint kite camp in Viana Do Castelo. This is also a good kite spot, nice waves. So if you hook up this area you get what you want, waves, flat water, strong wind, lighter wind, it is also possible to find shoppy water if like that:)
My last day I went to Peniche for some surfing, It is about 1 our driving from Lisboa. The waves here are good, to many people in water but I got some few good ones so it was worth it. Now I am back home again and hope to get a trip to egypt in middle of September. Cheers Sigve
Ozone snowkiteshoot
Last week me and Christian went to the famous Hardangervidda mountain plateau for a photo shoot with the new foil from Ozone. We had 4 days with all kinds of conditions: Sunny, foggy, rain, clouds and blue sky. We ended up with some sick pictures anyway:)
The first evening that we arrived at Haugastol we decide to go straight up to the plateau, it was sunny and we wanted some pics in the sunset. And we were lucky, It was a bit foggy but after one hour the sun made it through the big clouds, and we ended up with some sick pictures. Next day we decided to try to take advantage of the natural features for some pictures. It was very light wind but after two hours of walking and searching we ended up on top with some extra wind.
There was a big windlip on this hill and I manage to jump it , so fun and cool pictures. Later this day we built a kicker for some real freestyle pictures, but the wind never came back. Nice to come back to Haugastol, the dinner was already served.
Next morning we decided to go for more freestyle pictures, another spot with another kicker. The wind was so light, and when we were finished building, the wind direction changed - typical. On the top of the plateau it was windless so we drove to a valley where we found some wind, just enough to make some cruising shoots. It was a nice spot, we had this river going down the valley, nice pictures with the water and the snow:)
The last day it was again light wind, had under an hour to do some freestyle and that’s it. But we did not give up so we decided to go to the kicker we built the day before. The wind was too light and after one hour it changed again. So we ended up building a new kicker. At least we had one hour of sick riding before the wind went totally dead.
All over we were happy with the shoot but next time we don´t want to build kickers for five hours and ride one, sucks! Thanks to Christian for taking great pictures and his spirit. I think Ozone got what they wanted- the best snowkite pictures in the world:)
Extremesportweekend
Hi Everyone.
Here you have update from my week in Voss, I am sorry, my english it´s not perfect but hope you understand.
As you now I just come back home from a really nice week from Voss in Norway, named extremesportweekend. It is a week there you have all kinds of extremesports. You have paragliding, hengliding river paddling, base jump, parachute, rafting, downhill biking, surfing, street biking, and of corse kiting:) This year we had only 20 minuets of wind, so bad. Voss location it´s not along the cost therefor we don´t have to much of wind. We kiting in a river/ lake, it is a super spot so to bad with the wind. Cross our fingers for next year. But we did a lot of other cool stuff. I went for river paddling. The water is really cold when you turn up side down therefor it is really easy to stress. At the end of the day I really had control of flipping my self back up and then you can go for harder current. It is for sure something I will do again and you are pumped with adrenalin:)
Me and my brother Oystein decide to join a multisport competition. Here you can do it all by your self or you can organize a teem. My brother was skiing and I was downhill biking and at the end it was Frode Gudvangen (a friend) ho was river paddling. So tree disciplines. The day before the comp. it was organized a test run for us bikers, so we now where to bike. We had to walk up to the start line, two ours waking. It was so hot and hard but felt good when we arrived. We decide to go a bit longer so we could see the ski line. It was unpossible to see the hole line but at least we saw the end of it.
My run was quite long and hard, I spend long time to check it and I tried to save it in my harddrive. I had to pump my back wheel harder since I puncture on my way down. Frode was also paddling his line in the river, so we all was ready to kick some asses.
Oystein went with a helicopter to the top of the mountain, I was waking back up to the start and Frode was waiting for me close to the river. We all was exiting:) Oystein did a nice run, it took him 6-7 minutes so he was giving it up 100% We really had a nice time, on the top 3. Then it was me, I warmed up before start so was super ready. We had the start 37 and øystein com just after the start 35. I past him after some 100 meters so my first half run was good. Then I ofcourse puncture again. Shit shit shit! I decide to keep going since it will take to ling time to change the back wheel. Of course 35 and 36 past me again but still we was in front of them. At the end of my run I was biking downhill on a small road. It was not always steep and so hard to bike with a flat tire. I was totally empty when I arrived the finish line, I am happy I sponsored of Soma Nordick A/S ho give me organic health products so I recovering pretty fast. Anyway I lost over a minute here. Sorry guys! Frode did a good job as well, had a nice line in the river so god job mate!
We ended up nr. 6 of 11 so still we did a good job, next time my back wheel will be pumped up even harder, we all learn of experience don´t we? Had also two nice days with surfing . It is one natural wave in the river and it is super smooth to surf. It was a bit to much water in the river so the wave was smaller then normal but not bad at all. It is a strange filing. It is maybe 50 cm of glassy water pasing you when you standing there and looking strait to the bottom. Nice training for normal surf for sure. We had also some nice parties here, It is really a festival feeling with all kind of concerts. If you have time next year com on and visit the extremesportweekend it is a memory for life.
Talk to you all soon again:)
