What kind of music do you like?

My favourite song is a Dutch song (Ernst van der Pasch: verdwalen). it's pretty philosophical about getting lost in this world. But I listen to loads of different types except for Opera and metal.

What is your most scary moment?

Do I need to choose between that shark attack or getting smashed onto the rocks or thinking I would drown when I was 12.

Poland, here we come!

I love to race! I love the challenge! But I'm a bit nervos. In two weeks we have the european championships in Poland, 3 weeks later the pre olympics in Weymouth (olympic 2012 water) and the end of august the Danish will host our World champiosnhips. Exciting months coming up. Exciting to perform in any way possible. My life feels good, my mood feels good but will I be able to keep a lot of girls behind me? We will see. I will do my utmost! Great new Website.

Great new website, don't you think? Just checked some movies and nice to be part of the brand. Just arrived back to Holland after a good trainings session in Spain. Do not know what's going on with the weather lately but it's or very cold or very rainy. The wind has been on and off but any wind surfable condition is good for me at the moment. As long as I can hold the boom. The first training in Valencia, Spain I had 'hot hands' after 10 minutes playing out in the ocean. Am I a whoos? Or is 7 degrees just not good enough for windsurfing without gloves and surfboots? A well, after some painfull moments I could continue the training. The 26th of March the European season starts in Palma de Mallorca during the Princess Sofia cup. Exciting! At the moment I'm happy with every new technique I learn. Hopefully can remain pumping for 35 minutes in two weeks. Muscles are growing! Check out Marcelien.nl for more updates

An impression of my days before the New Year's Race Cadiz 2009. This is a movie from the day before my very first surf race ever.
Will I make a nice start? The weather conditions sound horrible for a beginner. 18 - 20 knots next coming 3 days. The waves are 5,5 meters high and rolling into the bay.
